The movement came again, more distinct this time. A heavier shift. A sense of weight. Anxiety began to settle like a stone in their stomach. Despite every instinct urging them to walk away, they felt compelled to look, as if the truth demanded to be seen. With cautious steps and a growing tightness in their throat, they bent down.
The moment their eyes registered what was truly there, instinct erupted. They screamed, a raw and startled sound that tore out of their body before they could think. Instead of a cat or a piece of trash, they found themselves face to face with a living crocodile. It was small enough to fit beneath the car but large enough to command fear with its presence. Its eyes glistened with cold alertness, fixed directly on them. Its tail shifted with a slow, purposeful twitch. The quiet menace of the creature filled the narrow space beneath the vehicle like a warning.
