Homestyle Ground Beef Lo Mein: A 30-Minute Comfort Classic You’ll Make Again and Again

How to Make It

1️⃣ Cook the Noodles

Boil a pot of salted water.
Cook noodles until just tender — avoid overcooking.
Drain and rinse with cold water so they stay separate.

2️⃣ Brown the Beef

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok.
Add ground beef and cook until browned (5–6 minutes).
Drain excess grease and set aside.

3️⃣ Sauté the Vegetables

Add the remaining oil to the same pan.
Throw in onion, garlic, carrots, cabbage, and bell pepper.
Stir-fry for 4–5 minutes until brightly colored and slightly tender.

Optional: Add chili flakes or ginger for extra flavor.

4️⃣ Mix the Sauce

Whisk all sauce ingredients in a bowl until smooth.
Make sure the cornstarch dissolves completely.

5️⃣ Combine Everything

Add the beef back into the pan with the veggies.
Toss in the noodles.
Pour the sauce on top and mix well.
Cook 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the noodles beautifully.

6️⃣ Serve

Turn off the heat, sprinkle with green onions, and serve hot.
