So I opened the picture and started searching. Three cats revealed themselves quickly. One sat in plain sight on a chair. Another peeked out from behind a curtain. The third blended into the pattern of a blanket draped over the couch. I marked each one in my mind, satisfied with my progress. Then I moved on to the final challenge, expecting to spot the last cat within moments. After all, it was just a picture of a living room with ordinary objects arranged in familiar ways. How hard could it be.

Ten minutes passed, and I still could not find it. I zoomed in and out. I adjusted the brightness of my screen. I tilted my head left and then right, hoping a different angle would reveal something I had missed. The comments section insisted that the fourth cat was right there in plain view, hiding in a place that felt obvious once someone pointed it out. This only made my frustration grow. I began to question my eyesight. I wondered whether the challenge was some kind of distraction meant to make the viewer feel foolish. I even considered the possibility that people were inventing the fourth cat simply to tease anyone who struggled.
